Ronaldo to lead Portugal into World Cup 2022

Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5, 1985, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal.

In 2001, Ronaldo began his career with Portugal's under-15 squad and quickly rose through the ranks, eventually gaining 34 caps for the junior team and scoring 18 goals.

Ronaldo began his professional career with Sporting CP in Portugal. He came to Manchester United when he was 18 years old, and in his first season there, the club won the FA Cup thanks to his playing.

At the age of 18, Ronaldo made his debut for Portugal on the world stage, playing in his first international game. Since that time, he has accrued more than 190 caps for his country.

He won every game he played in, including the Premier League, the Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup. His first Ballon d'Or victory came when he was only 23 years old.

There, he won a total of 15 games, including two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and four Champions League titles. Additionally, he holds the record for the most goals scored in the annals of the club.

For the years 2013 and 2014, he received the Ballon d'Or. He continued his winning streak with consecutive Ballons d'Or awards in 2016 and 2017. He finished second three times behind Lionel Messi.

The transfer of Ronaldo from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009 was the most expensive transaction ever made in association football.

In 2018, he made the move to Juventus, which was the costliest transfer ever made by an Italian team for a player over the age of 30.

Forbes named Ronaldo the world's highest-paid athlete in 2016 and 2017. ESPN says he was the most famous athlete between 2016 and 2019.

Time magazine named him one of the year's top 100 most influential people in 2014. He's the first football player and third athlete overall to earn $1 billion during his career.
